Mr Mansoor Ajraan Al Bouainin, Director of Al Wakra Municipality, hosted international experts on TVET for Sustainable and Inclusive Development on a visit to Al Wakra as part of a Research in TVET Meeting organized by the UNESCO-UNEVOC Centre Qatar, College of North Atlantic – Qatar.

Al Wakra presented projects about ‘green’ and healthy learning cities while exhibiting enjoyable Arabic hospitality and culture.

The Municipality of Al Wakra showcased projects about environmental sustainability demonstrating collaboration with Government Ministries, schools, the business sector, the hospital and not for profit organisations. Guests were treated to an enjoyable display of Qatari culture, including a visit and dinner at Souk Al Wakra.

Al Wakra Hospital showcased a number of environmental projects. One that took the attention of visitors was the hospital rag doll project. Hospital staff use recycled materials to make rag dolls which are then used to ease the anxiety of young patients. 

Videos were shown of a state of the art Waste Water Treatment Plant and also of the rehabilitation of mangroves as part of the massive Al Wakra Port development. 

International visitors and other guests took away lasting memories of Qatari hospitality through the displays of craft; local food; gifts and a special visit and dinner at Souq Al Wakra.
