CNA-Q's Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Medical Radiography provides students with the

education and training required to enter the workforce as a qualified Medical Radiographers. The

degree program will not only provide students with the essential knowledge and technical

competencies required to enter practice but will also provide them with a broader knowledge of

the healthcare field and its systems. Within the program, students will be immersed in aspects of

leadership and management, develop emotional intelligence and adaptability, learn to apply

ethical practice, and contribute as part of the healthcare team. Graduates will acquire sufficient

knowledge about research and evidence-based approaches to engage in effective and appropriate

decision-making.

The curriculum for the 3-year diploma in Medical Radiography is shared with CNA-NL who

conduct in-depth program reviews every five (5) years, or, as required, to maintain alignment with

the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) National Competency

Profile (NCP). The program is currently in the midst of a program review, which is scheduled to

be completed in June 2020. As such, the process to develop a degree program in Medical

Radiography must take into consideration the program review changes that are implemented to

the current three (3) year diploma. This overlap of program review and program development is

resource-intensive and may prolong the development of the bachelor's program.
