Bachelor of Science in Applied Chemical and Processing Engineering (B.Sc. CPE) is an applied degree with learning outcomes closely linked to the labor market. The program provides students with the knowledge, skills and competencies needed for a career in the chemical, petroleum industry. The program teaches students to design, implement, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot chemical and processing units and plants. Students gain an in-depth knowledge of process operation, process control and techniques, and equipment design. When consolidated through the completion of a Capstone project and work placement, this skill set prepares graduates for an exciting career in the chemical or petroleum industry.​

Objectives

  1. Apply knowledge, techniques, skills, and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering and technology to solve broadly defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline;
  2. Design systems, components, or processes meeting specified needs for broadly-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline;
  3. Apply written, oral, and graphical communication skills in broadly-defined technical and non-technical environments;
  4. Identify and use appropriate technical literature;
  5. Conduct standard tests, measurements, and experiments;
  6. Analyze and interpret test, measurement, and experiment results to improve processes;
  7. Function effectively as a member as well as a leader on technical teams

Entrance requirements

​Prospective students for this program must provide the following:

  1. High school graduation certificate approved by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education with a minimum average of 60%, and 
  2. Successful completion of final year (Grade 12 or equivalent) two science courses. 
  3. OR 
  4. High school graduation certificate approved by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Education plus the following:
    • English Language with a minimum grade of 60%
    • Academic Mathematics with a minimum grade of 60% or Advanced Mathematics with a minimum grade of 50% 
    • Chemistry with a minimum grade of 60% 

Language proficiency Requirements

​Students entering this program must meet English language proficiency requirements by obtaining one of the following: 

  1. A valid IELTS Academic Test Report Form with an overall band of 5.0 with no individual band score (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) below 5.0. 
  2. A valid (TOEFL - iBT) Test Report with an overall band of 45. 
  3. A valid Linguaskill Test Report with an overall of 154. 
  4. A valid Cambridge Assessment Report with an overall of 154. 
  5. Successful completion of the Foundation Program. 

Mathematics Proficiency Requirements 

Students entering this program must meet mathematic requirements by obtaining one of the following: 
  1. A minimum of 60% on the CNA-Q Academic Math Placement Test. 
  2. A valid SAT Report Form with a minimum score of 550. 3. Successful completion of the Foundation Program.
