The Diploma in Applied Business Administration – Marketing is a two-year diploma program designed to produces graduates who are ready to join the workforce as entry-level marketing professionals.

The program is aligned to local labour market needs as identified by the School of Business Management and Information Technology stakeholders. In their first year of studies, students learn core academic competencies, practice functional skills related to subject knowledge, and develop critical thinking skills related to the world of work. In the second year of studies, students specialize in gaining the technical skills relating their field of studies, such as consumer behaviour, digital marketing, integrated marketing communication, business research and social media marketing.

The on-the-job work placement component of the program will allow students to gain real work experience in the field of business administration.


  1. Communicate product, customer, and company information based on received queries.
  2. Use secondary research to gain knowledge about marketing trends such as new product developments and customer preferences, and the competitive marketing landscape.
  3. Conduct primary research, contributing to business reports.
  4. Contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of marketing initiatives, integrating digital and social media tools. 
  5. Assist in the preparation, coordination, collection, production, supervision, and follow-up of promotions and events.
  6. Recognize the importance of ethical practices in marketing.
  7. Liaise with internal and external contacts regarding meetings and events.
  8. Communicate with others in a professional manner, using oral, written, and graphical skills to effectively present ideas and recommendations based on one’s audience.
  9. Apply program skills and concepts in the workplace.

As Qatar moves ahead to fulfil its Qatar Vision 2030 strategy, marketing departments will continue to support the human and economic development pillars as organizations recruit necessary skill sets to fulfill long-term goals of projects such as those involved with FIFA 2022, the Doha Metro project, and more. Able to be employed in the private sector, public sector and not-forprofit organizations, those trained in marketing are also involved with advertising, promotions, events, social media, awareness campaigns, and technological applications. Job prospects for the marketing field vary by position, duties, and levels of responsibility.

Entrance requirements

  1. High school graduation certificate with the following:

  2. The required score on the Oxford Online Placement Test (OOPT) and Academic Math Placement (AMP) test. Students who present a valid IELTS Academic Test Report Form received within two years, with an overall band 5.0 and no individual skill band below 4.5, are exempt from taking the OOPT. For score requirements on other internationally recognized tests, such as the TOEFL, contact the Admissions & Registration Department.
Note: Applicants who do not meet the entrance requirements, and are 19 years of age or older, may be considered on an individual basis under the Mature Student Clause. See the Academic Calendar (Admissions Section – Mature Student Requirements, page 15).

Language proficiency Requirements

  1. An overall score of 65 or greater on the Oxford Online Placement Test (OOPT) or a passing score from another approved internationally recognized English language test, as validated by the Admissions & Registration Department.
  2. Present a valid Academic IELTS exam with an overall band of 5.0 with no individual band score (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) below 4.5.
  3. Successful completion of FL1090, a language development course.

Further Studies

For those wishing to pursue a baccalaureate degree, articulation agreements are in place that makes it possible for a College diploma graduates to attend universities in Qatar and other countries. A variety of options are available. A current list of post-secondary institutions offering admission to and accepting transfer credit from CNA-Q graduates who meet the entrance requirements are available from the Admissions & Registration Department or the Career Counselling and Resource Centre.
