This is a four-year Applied Science degree with concentrations that will lead the graduates into specific jobs within the field of Data and Cyber Security. All students in this program will study generic Information Technology (IT) courses along with data and cyber security courses, which will enable them to understand and contribute to the information technology context in which data and cyber security functions are performed. The interdisciplinary area of "Cyber Security", which includes elements of data security, looks at how hardware and software systems can be designed and operated to ensure business or institutional security by reducing the threat of unauthorized access or intervention. The Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc. (ABET), the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the Canadian Cyber Security Alliance, the Canadian Security Association, the Canadian Information Processing Society (CIPS), and the Canadian Information Technologies Professionals Association recognize these fields and have established criteria and outcomes specific to these interrelated discipline areas.
You may choose to exit the Bachelor’s degree with a diploma after successful completion of all diploma requirements.
