12/15/2021

College of the North Atlantic – Qatar (CNA-Q) has organized a grand celebration to commemorate Qatar National Day. The ceremony took place in the presence of Dr. Salem Al-Naemi, President of College of the North Atlantic – Qatar alongside faculty members, staff and students.

The day started with the traditional flag raising with Qatar National Anthem music being played during the ceremony. The College decided this year to celebrate QND in a creative manner by honoring traditions and helping foreign students discover the culture of Qatar through performances such as Alfidjeri, which is a specific repertoire of vocal music sung by the ancient pearl divers; the recreation of a traditional Qatari wedding; poetry; competitions and traditional dances such as Al-Arda or the sword dance, which dates back to the times when Bedouin tribes were predominant in Qatar and was performed just before a war or a fight. During his speech, Dr. Salem Al-Naemi said: “I am honored to offer my sincere congratulations to His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, on the occasion of Qatar National Day. Today, 143 years after the foundation of our Nation, the words of Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani, may Allah rest his soul, still resonate: “ANCESTRAL MEADOWS: A MATTER OF TRUST”. We are all entrusted with this land, and it is our duty to preserve it, develop it and enrich it. Each one of our community members is an avid contributor to this enrichment. Our students are doing their part by seeking knowledge and diversifying their skills to lead our nation's growth. Our faculty members are shaping Qatar’s future by inspiring hundreds of students every day. Their guidance helps them realize their full potential and achieve a strong sense of self-confidence and trust in who they want to become. Our staff are helping us build a purpose-driven institution, and their efforts and the teamwork culture are making our College shine. Our Community is empowering us to achieve Qatar National Vision and I want to thank them all for their contribution to making Qatar a more prosperous and stronger country. I am confident that these celebrations will strengthen our patriotic spirit and remind us of the strong ties that people of this land have with their environment.”
