At UDST there are many opportunities for students to receive scholarships and awards based on academic standing and their contribution to campus life. Many of these are presented at our annual Academic Awards Ceremony which is held in the Fall semester for recipients from the previous academic year.

Scholarships and awards the University offers are:
University of Doha for Science and Technology Overall Highest Achiever Scholarship (Bachelor Degree programs)
Automatically awarded to the student with the highest weighted average from a bachelor's degree program at the University. The winner receives a 20,000 Qatari Riyal cash award, a crystal and a recognition certificate. The distinction of this award is noted on the student's official transcript.
University of Doha for Science and Technology Overall Highest Achiever Scholarship (Advanced Diploma)
Automatically awarded to the student with the highest weighted average from an advanced diploma program at the University. The winner receives a 20,000 Qatari Riyal cash award, a crystal and a recognition certificate. The distinction of this award is noted on the student's official transcript.
University of Doha for Science and Technology Overall Highest Achiever Scholarship (2-year program)
Automatically awarded to the student with the highest weighted average from a 2-year program at the University. The winner receives a 20,000 Qatari Riyal cash award, a crystal and a recognition certificate. The distinction of this award is noted on the student's official transcript.
University of Doha for Science and Technology Highest Achiever Merit Award
Automatically awarded to the two highest weighted average students from each program area: Business Management, Engineering Technology, Health Sciences and Information Technology. The winners receive a 10,000 Qatari Riyal cash award, a crystal and a recognition certificate. The distinction of this award is noted on the student’s official transcript.

Distinction Award
Automatically awarded to the top six highest academic achievers based on a weighted average from each program area: Business Management, Information Technology, Engineering Technology, and Health Sciences. The recipients of this award will be presented with a recognition certificate. The distinction of this award is noted on the student's official transcript.

Industrial Trades Dean Award
Awarded to five student's nominated by the School of Engineering Technology and Industrial Trades from each program/stream in Technician Certificate Program (TCP) and Technician Certificate (TC) programs based on the students' academic achievements. The recipients of this award will be presented with a recognition certificate. The distinction of this award is noted on the student's official transcript.
University of Doha for Science and Technology EFL Award
Awarded to two students who have shown the most improvement in their language proficiency studies over the past academic year. Nominated by Faculty from the Foundation Program, the winners receive a 5000 Qatari Riyal cash award, a commemorative plaque and a recognition certificate. The distinction of this award is noted on the student’s official transcript.
Achievement Award
Students will be selected for this award if they entered the University at English foundation level of FL1070/FL1120 or lower, achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.20, and their projected graduation date is in the current academic year. The recipients of this award will be presented with a recognition certificate. The distinction of this award is noted on the students’ official transcript.

Criteria for Awards 


  1. Awards administered by the University are provided upon the recommendation of the Awards Committee.
  2. No scholarship will be awarded to a candidate who holds an award of equal or greater value unless specifically required by the terms of the award. Certain conditions apply.
  3. There are different eligibility criteria for awarding scholarships and awards. Full information about the eligibility criteria for each scholarship/award is available at the Admissions and Registration Department.

Weighted Average

A student’s weighted average can be defined as the sum of a course grade multiplied by the course value (credit), divided by the sum of the course values (all credits).
