This activity provides an introduction to basic nutrition theory such as major classes of nutrients, food guides, RDA’s /DRI’s, and the interpretation of food labels. Participants will study dietary assessment tools used by dental professionals to collect nutritional data that is relative to oral health. Students will use appropriate professional forms to analyze dietary data and prepare an appropriate nutritional counseling plan relative to dental practice.
