Cathleen de Groot joined the CNA-Q team in 2013 as Manager, Library Services, after holding positions in libraries, archives, and information centers in Canada’s National Capital Region. Among the institutions she worked with are Environment Canada, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), Export Development Canada, and the Canadian War Museum. Her experiences in many sectors of the information field, from records management to knowledge management and reference services to systems, have been well-suited to the multi-faceted Library Services role at CNA-Q.
Cathleen holds a Masters of Library and Information Science from McGill University and an Honours Bachelors of Art in Art History, Near and Middle Eastern Civilizations, and Anthropology from the University of Toronto.
Moving to Doha with her husband Alex has been one of the most exciting adventures of her career and she has a great enthusiasm for working with students and colleagues alike to bring the best possible information to their fingertips. She is constantly working on her coding skills, reading financial and management books, and wishing she had more time to hone her oil painting skills.
