Any person wishing to study at CNA-Qatar who has not met the college's direct-entry requirements must first write a placement test for English and Math. The test results will determine the eligibility placement of the student at the College.

All successful applicants to The College of the North Atlantic-Qatar must write both an English and Math Test to determine their placement at the College. The Academic English Placement (AEP) and Academic Math Placement (AMP) Tests are placement tools administered to all new students enrolled in a diploma or certificate program in order to provide information about their academic skills in English and mathematics.

The Academic English Placement (AEP)tool is an online adaptive test designed to assess an applicant's English language ability. The test results are used to place students in classes at CNA-Qatar. Applicants requiring additional language support depending on eligibility and availability may be eligible take English language classes at CNA-Q to ensure future success in their program of study.

The College of the North Atlantic-Qatar uses the Oxford Online Placement Test to screen and place potential students for admission. The test is a computerized test that is designed to adapt to your language level. This means that questions are selected for you depending on your English proficiency.
The exam will take between 45-90 minutes, depending on your performance.

The test has two parts.

The Use of English section has grammar, short reading passages and fill in the blanks.

In the Listening section you will be asked to listen to short conversations or narratives and answer multiple choice questions. You can listen to the passage 2 times

Yes. Testing accommodations are available to applicants with special needs. It is your responsibility to identify your special need when you apply to CNA-Q. You must provide the Registrar’s Office with valid medical documentation regarding your special need. The documentation will be reviewed by a counselor to determine what testing accommodations may be necessary. If you feel you have a special need and you do not have documentation, you will be required to meet with one of the college counselors.

Failure to notify the Registrar’s Office of the need for testing accommodation does not warrant a re-test. It is the responsibility of the candidate to identify their special need before writing the AEP.

You must bring:

  • your original passport or national ID card. No photocopies will be accepted. Without proper ID, you will not be permitted to write the test. No exceptions.
  • Payment receipt received in the test booking confirmation email.

All test materials including writing materials will be provided by the CNA-Qatar Testing Centre. No calculators or personal items are allowed in the test room

You must be at the CNA-Qatar Testing Centre 30 minutes before the scheduled test time.

Your test results will be emailed to you between 2 to 5 business days.

Yes, you can retake the AEP but you must wait 30 days between testing. Take the time between tests to improve your English, For each test series taken, the 200 QR test fee will apply.

The AMP is a 2 hour long paper-based test designed to assess academic math ability in relation to courses offered at CNA-Q.

NOTE:

When applying to the college at the Registrar's Office, you will be directed to the Testing Centre for a test date. AEP/AMP testing normally occurs on the Sunday and Monday of each week. Your test results will usually be available 5 - 10 days after the test and must be picked up at the Registrar's Office. The CNA-Qatar Testing Centre cannot release test results.
