Duties & responsibilities

 

Under the supervision of the Principal, the successful candidate will be responsible for the development of a School Nurse Program for students, faculty and staff. This will include providing primary care and emergency type services, occupational health and safety activities and staff/student health education.  Duties include but are not limited to:  

  • Provide initial health assessments to walk in staff and students.
  • Prioritize health concerns and clients needs through advanced assessments i.e. urgent, emergent and non urgent.
  • Provide and administer appropriate treatment and/or referrals within the scope of practice.
  • Respond to medical crisis i.e. loss of consciousness, cardiac arrest, asthmatic attacks, etc
  • Arrange for physician and other types of clinic visits i.e. dietician.  
  • Participate with QCS faculty and staff in the development and delivery of school health programs including Occupational Health & Safety, health promotion & health education.
  • Serve as a resource to faculty and staff in matters relating to medical and health issues.
  • Follow reports of student and faculty accidents to ensure that the required information is documented and hazards corrected.
  • Order and maintain equipment and supplies for the Nursing Station at QCS.
  • Participate in the orientation of new students and faculty.
  • Record and maintain confidential student and faculty files; ensure proper storage of this data. 
  • Prepare annual reports regarding activities.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualification & skills required

 
  • Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner.
  • Two years clinical experience or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Certification in standard First Aid and CPR (Level C).
  • Diploma in Occupational Health Nursing is preferred.
  • Must be eligible for licensure with the Supreme Council of Health.
  • Excellent communication and strong organizational skills are essential.
  • Fluency in oral & written English is essential and Arabic Language would be an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and with others.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with faculty, staff and students.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
