CNA-Q Hosts International Instructional Skills Workshop

From April 19-21, College of the North Atlantic - Qatar hosted the 1st International Instructional Skills Workshop at Duhail Campus. Over 150 instructors from Qatar, UAE and Canada took part in the three day event which focused on continuous learning for teachers.

"This is such an exciting conference to bring to Doha," said Dr. Eileen Bragg who coordinated the event. "This is not only the first time that it is offered in Qatar, its the first time the conference has happened outside of British Columbia, Canada. It�s such an honour for CNA-Q to host such a variety of instructors."

Over the three day event, participants could sign up for various workshops and lectures focusing on improving their classroom skills. Workshop topics included teaching second language students, classroom assessment techniques, problem based learning, using technology in the classroom, seven principles of good learning and many more.

The conference was opened by Joan McArthur-Blair, President of Nova Scotia Community College, Canada who extolled the importance of teachers not only on students but on society as a whole.

ISW began more than 25 years ago and has grown to include hundreds of facilitators throughout the world. Active ISW programs exist in more than 100 colleges, institutes, universities, hospitals and industry training organizations in over a dozen countries around the world.
