The CNA-Q Social Committee

The CNA-Q Social Committee is made up of volunteers. The Social Committee, in conjunction with the HR Department, has input in the social opportunities for employees and their families to come together. They send out a weekly e-newsletter with the social news and events that are happening at CNA-Q and within Doha. This is a valuable source of information to spice up your social life and help you feel part of the CNA-Q community. The Social Committee also oversees an activity, “Flowers and Showers” whereby the Committee, on behalf of all employees, recognizes events in the lives of employees, such as the birth of a new baby, illness or bereavement, or end of service. This operates by employees donating a small sum of money to the committee once or twice during the academic year.

The Social Committee also sponsors a Hosting Program whereby new employees (and their families) can be supported by an experienced employee (and their families) in getting to know Doha. You are encouraged to consider asking for a host as this can help make your transition be so much more pleasant. They can help you settle into your accommodations, show you around the city, answer your questions, introduce you to other employees, recommend tailors, restaurants, dental clinics, etc. and give you an idea as to what to expect regarding the weather. Just complete the attached Host Program form and follow the instructions for submitting it.

Many of the living communities have organized committees to facilitate communication from the landlord and CNA-Q to the residents and from the residents to the landlord and CNA-Q. You will be advised of your contact person shortly after you arrive, if one is available.
